·Find natural
objects that you think look interesting. Think about their patterns, textures,
colours and shapes. Collect roughly 20 objects (e.g. sticks, grass, leaves,
flowers, seeds etc.)
·Go to a flat
surface to work (concrete, dirt, paper).
·Arrange all of
the items in front of you.
·Group all of
the objects into colours (e.g. all browns together, greens together, etc.)
·Arrange your
objects from the lightest colour to the darkest colour.
·Take a photo of your collage colour chart.
·Using your
objects, create a picture of anything you like. (An animal or an insect is a
good idea if you are stuck.) Think about what you want to create, and which
colours or textures you will need to use to create that image so that it is as
realistic as possible. You can collect more natural objects if needed. You can use PVA glue* to glue the
objects down, and can add pen or pencil lines where desired. * If you do not
have PVA glue just lie the objects down in your picture.
Today your challenge is to create a colour wheel with objects you can find around your home. It can be anything you can find. There are two colour wheels below.
The first is simple and I would expect grade Prep to 2 to be focussing on the first colour wheel.
Example:
Grades 3-6 please take on the challenge of the more difficult colour wheel. TASK 1 - Once you have made a colour wheel using the objects from around your house, please take a photo and send it in.
Examples:
TASK 2 - Look at the artwork below and answer the questions in an email to Mrs Toma. katrina.toma@education.vic.gov.au
WEEK 5 - Welcome to the 7 Day Photography Challenge.
Grades 3-6 are to complete this challenge - Grades Prep-2 are to complete the scavenger hunt but are welcome to join in the 7 Day challenge if they would like.
Each day you will be introduced to a new theme for
your photos.
What you will need:
A camera, iPad, iPhone... anything you can take
photos with.
Tips and Tricks for Great Photos:
Take a lot of photos.
Practice makes perfect and the great
thing about digital photography is that it’s pretty much free.
Think about what you’re actually taking a
photo of.
Make sure you think about the theme
you are working towards. You can think outside the box as long as it fits in
the theme.
Pay attention to the background.
Make sure you look at the background as well as
what you are taking a photo of. Sometimes the background can distract from the
picture in the front.
Keep fingers off the lens.
Sometimes we can forget where our hands should be
on the camera, make sure you are holding it with fingers away from the lens.
Also making sure we are holding the camera/ipad properly and if there is a neck
or wrist strap make sure you are using it.
Hold the camera still.
Make sure you hold the
camera/iPad/iPhone still to ensure your image is not blurry. Keep your arms
tucked into your sides to limit the movement to create clearer pictures.
Make sure the lens is clean.
This is very important with smartphone cameras as
it’s quite easy to get fingerprints on the lens. Remember to wipe off the lens
(with a soft cotton or microfiber cloth) before taking photos.
Make sure the subject is in focus.
To make sure your photos aren’t
blurry, you can click or touch the screen on your iPad/iPhone to make the
camera focus on what you want the main part to be.
Check the lighting.
More light will make for better photos. Avoid
taking photos in dark corners inside. In case of glare or bright backlight,
have them slightly tilt their phone at an angle or to focus on a different
object.
You can always crop.
It’s better to back up for a wider view of a scene
and then crop it later.
Try different angles.
A new angle can make all the difference. Move
around, tilt the camera (ant’s eye view, bird’s eye view), focus on certain
details, change the focus, and see which shots you like better.
Portrait or Landscape.
Decide how you would like to capture
your photos. Do you want a tall thin photo or a wide photo? What are you trying
to capture in your photo?
Tell a story and capture a “moment.”
Photography can be a fantastic way to enjoy and
remember life as it is right now and it lets you engage with whatever situation
you’re in and wherever that might be.
Play with proportion.
Have fun with playing with the size
of different objects. Its fun using a Lego mini figure to try out some things.
Daily Theme
Day 1 – Autumn
Examples of zero
Please Submit one photo for each day of the
challenge – all submitted at the end of the week.
Practise drawing hearts on scrap
paper or on a whiteboard if you have one. Think about composition (where things
will be on your page) and different expressions on your hearts.
Look at the ideas sheet for Eyes
and Mouths.
Now watch the second half of the video
NO Less than 5 hearts on your
page.
When happy with your pencil
drawings use a permanent marker to copy over your artwork.
Now watch the 2nd video
Usingwashable markers – add a
thick line around the outside of the hearts and the details.
Now using a paintbrush add water
over the marker and drag the colour onto the inside of the hearts.
If you have water colours you can
use those to fill in your background. Add dots of watercolour in each section
only add two colours. Use different colours in each section.
If you do not have water colour
paints at home, you could make dots out of markers/textas and add water with a
paintbrush.
